Hydroelectric dam suffers gully erosion and collapsed walls

During the excavation process for the future site of the powerhouse for a hydroelectric plant on the Rhone River, storms caused the banks to partially collapse and wash away, forcing the works contractor to carry out phasing and reinforcements that were not part of its contract.

We stepped in to handle this case at the request of the project owner’s Contractors’ All Risks insurer after the third incident occurred.

A GM Consultant loss adjuster specialising in Civil Engineering analysed the statement of claim submitted by the company after making his initial observations, then approved the methods proposed by the company to perform the repair work. This analysis made it possible to exclude the work that was not part of the contract but crucial to the completion of the project from the statement of claim.
