Deformation of Stainless Steel, Temperature-Controlled Wine Vats


A champagne producer noticed a deformation in the stainless steel, temperature-controlled wine vats containing the previous years’ vintage, just a few months after receiving new production areas.

A total loss of the wines (€1M) is also feared due to the risks of heat transfer fluid contamination (glycol water) supplying the vats.


Appointed by the refrigeration installer, our loss adjuster certified absence of damage concerning the quality of the wines in respect of regulatory, quality and health reference documents in force. Indeed, the presence of a small amount of glycol does not make the wines produced unsuitable for consumption.

Furthermore, GM Consultant’s loss adjuster technically demonstrated the external cause, in order to release the policyholder from any liability.
