Septic tanks collapse

A company supplied the septic tanks needed for non-collective sanitation compliance work in a community of rural communes. Forty-six tanks ranging in capacity from 3,000 to 5,000 litres were installed.

A few years after the installation, three of the tanks started to show signs of malfunction and possible collapse.

The other parties in the claim sought the liability of the company that manufactured the tanks, and demanded that all of the installed components be replaced.

Our loss adjuster, a specialist in Civil Engineering, participated in the counter investigations and pointed out several implementation issues that led to the failures, thereby ruling out the septic tank manufacturer’s responsibility.
